Platica y Pruebas: The History of Chocolate
Ages 18+ ONLY!
Vaccination Cards Required Upon Entrance
In this class, participants will learn about the impactful history of chocolate! Once a food for the gods, chocolate was reserved for those of Mayan and Aztec nobility. The drink later transformed into a drink for European aristocrats and evolved into the simple chocolate bar of today.
In this class, attendees will get the chance to enjoy a tasting of chocolate de agua and try tejate, a non-alcoholic flower beverage made of ground corn, ground cacao, mamey seeds, and rosita de cacao.
Guest Speaker: Chef and Historian Maite Gomez-Rejon, Founder of ArtBites and a guest tejate maker.

Dress Code Policy
For the safety of all attendees, LA Plaza Cocina asks that all attendees abide by the following guidelines of our Dress Code Policy to make out space safe for you, our staff members, and guest chefs:
- Please wear comfortable clothing with closed-toe shoes
- Please pull long hair back with a hairband
- Attendees MUST wear a mask throughout the duration of the program except for eating and/or drinking.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
Attendees of LA Plaza Cocina’s food programs MUST provide proof of vaccination to attend both the cooking classes and demonstrations. In addition, all attendees MUST wear a mask throughout the program except for eating and/or drinking.
For attendees who are NOT vaccinated, you MUST provide proof of a NEGATIVE COVID-19 test taken 72 hours (3 days) before attending this event.
